Unable to install the VPN-Q 2006 client on Windows XP 64bit

A:
Problem: When you attempt to install the VPN-Q 2006 client (no SP) on Windows XP 64Bit the installation fails with the following error:

This profile was not built for this processor architecture. Please contact your Administrator to get the appropriate profile for this architecture.

Cause: VPN-Q 2006 makes use of Microsoft IExpress, which is a standard Windows component, to create the client setup program. When run on a 32bit version of Windows Server 2003, IExpress creates a 32bit version of the setup file. When this is run on 64bit Windows it runs in a 32bit emulation mode (SYSWOW64) which is unable to launch the required 64bit connection manager configuration. The resolution from Microsoft is to run the setup creation process on a 64bit version of Windows Server 2003. Unfortunately such a package would not be able to be installed on Windows XP 32bit, furthermore, there is no 64bit version of ISA Server to install on Windows Server 2003 64bit.

Resolution: This issue was rectified in Service Pack 1.

The fix allows the 64bit connection manager configuration to be launched from the 32bit setup program.

More information: Winfrasoft's aim is to have a single installer that will work on both 32bit and 64bit Windows to simplify deployments. The Service Pack 1 version of VPN-Q 2006 client installs and runs as expected on Windows XP 64bit as the Microsoft Installer issues have been worked around.
