VPN-Q does not detect Windows Vista with Service Pack 2

A:
Applies to: VPN-Q 2006, Winfrasoft VPN-Q 2009

Problem: When running the VPN-Q 2006 or 2009 Client on Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 installed you receive one of the following errors:

Fail - VPN-Q 2006 Client requires Windows XP SP2 (i386), Windows XP (x64) or Windows Vista but detected Microsoft Windows Vista {your edition} 6.0.6002.

Fail - Winfrasoft VPN-Q 2009 requires Windows XP SP2 (i386), Windows XP (x64) or Windows Vista but detected Microsoft Windows {your edition} 6.0.6002.

Cause: For the second time, Microsoft has broken with tradition and changed the OS build number for Windows Vista when a service pack is installed. Prior to Windows Vista, a Windows service pack did not effect the build number of the OS. The build number of the original release of Windows Vista is 6.0.6000, whereas the build number after installing SP1 had changed to 6.0.6001 and SP2 has changed to 6.0.6002.

Resolution: This issue was first corrected in SP3 Update 7 for to VPN-Q 2006 and Update 1 for VPN-Q 2009 to allow for the change in build number in Windows Vista after installing Service Pack 2, they are also available via the auto update system. These updates contain new OS detection routines which should make VPN-Q compatible with future OS service pack updates.
