2010 & 2009
VPN-Q 2010 & 2009 has a
Logging mode which is designed to produce a detailed log file for
troubleshooting purposes. Logging mode can be run by running the client executable file
VPNQC.EXE
with the
/log
switch. Running Logging mode does not attempt
to remove a client from quarantine, it is used purely for troubleshooting and
support purposes and does not form part of the applications normal operation.
The
VPNQC.EXE file can be found on the client PC in one of a number of locations
depending on the user who performed the installation and the client operating
system. Some of the folders are set a hidden by the operating system and may not
be visible. If the folder are not visible either type in the folder in the
address bar or enable the view hidden folders option in Explorer.
Note: If the user profile location has been moved from the default C:\
location then the VPN-Q client will be located in the new location in the same
path.
Windows XP:
- If the client was installed by a user with Administrative rights the
client is installed into the All Users profile:
C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Cm\{Company Name}\
- If the client
was installed by a user without administrative rights the client is
installed into that specific users profile:
C:\Documents and Settings\{User
Profile}\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Cm\{Company
Name}\
Note: The "Application Data" folder is a
hidden folder and may not appear in the folder list depending on your Explorer
view settings. If the folder isn't visible type the folder name into the address
bar or enable the view hidden files setting.
Windows Vista & Windows 7:
- Windows Vista & Windows 7 always install the client into the specific users profile
who performed the installation regardless of the user's rights:
C:\Users\{User
Profile}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Cm\{Company Name}\
Note: The "AppData" folder is a
hidden folder and may not appear in the folder list depending on your Explorer
view settings. If the folder isn't visible type the folder name into the address
bar or enable the view hidden files setting.
Creating a Log:
The logging mode is designed for advanced troubleshooting and is not
restricted by licence file information. This mode does NOT load a UI but instead
writes a detailed log file. The log file is written to the same folder that the
VPNQC.EXE
file is located and is called
SECSCAN.LOG. When the log
begins a balloon will pop up to alert you and when completed a message box will
ask you if you wish to view the log. Winfrasoft support
will usually request this file when working on a support incident.
Example of how to create a log on a Windows
Vista PC:
"C:\Users\TedW\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Cm\AcmeInc\VPNQC.exe" /Log
