What's new in Service Pack 3 for VPN-Q 2006?

Service Pack 3 (Version 2.0.2283.0) includes various fixes and new features based on customer feedback and product advancements.

The SP3 client will be made available via the client auto update engine. To fully benefit from all the new features the server component must be upgraded and a new client setup package may need to be created and distributed.

Service Pack 3 Fixes / Updates

  • Added German Language support for client.
  • Added French Language support for client.
  • Allows multiple VPN-Q 2006 Client installations for different VPN endpoints.
  • Added feature to run a custom command after security checks complete.
  • Support for setting minimum Windows Vista service pack levels.
  • Includes all SP1, Client Update 1 and SP2 enhancements.

Service Pack 3 Enhancements

  • Removed requirement to disable UAC on Windows Vista prior to client installation.
  • Resolved issue with installation on Windows Vista 64bit.
  • Resolved issue where in some configurations the Windows Firewall settings are incorrectly detected when enforced via Group Policy.
  • Corrected explanations in the Group Policy Template file relating to remediation and VPN disconnect settings to correctly represent the client behaviour.
  • Support for Unicode characters in licence file and connection information (multilingual).
  • Removed CMAK 1.3 installation files from client installation package.
  • Added UI notice to client regarding delay with Windows Update check for user.
  • Added UI notice to server wizard to clarify WSUS configuration settings.
  • Update UI in Free Edition to show skipped checks as "Information" instead of "Pass".
  • Enhanced the auto update engine to cater for new product upgrades and migration scenarios to future versions.
  • Improved diagnostic logging and layout.
  • Group Policy Admin Template file now included in program files folder.
  • Client connection name changed to "Connection to [company name] ([VPN Endpoint])"
  • Includes all SP1, Client Update 1 and SP2 updates.

Auto-update: VPN-Q includes an auto-update engine that will update the client component automatically - provided that this feature has not been disabled in Enterprise Edition. Not all the updates in SP3 can be deployed via this mechanism as some of the updates in SP3 relate to the server administrator or the Microsoft Connection Manager. SP3 fixes that are available via auto-update are indicated in the list above.
