The process to upgrade from a trial install is a fairly simple 4 step process
and will not affect any ISA settings or firewall rules. The process involves:
- Importing the new licence file
- Building a new client setup package
- Removing the old trial client setup package
- Installing the new client setup package
Step 1
- To install a Retail or Volume licence, extract the new licence file (In
.xml format) from the zip file that you received from Winfrasoft and copy it
to your VPN server where VPN-Q 2006 Server Administrator is already
installed as a trial.
- Open the VPN-Q 2006 Server Administrator, select the VPN Client tab and
click on the Browse... button in the Licence file section.
Locate the XML licence file that you copied onto the server previously and
click Open.
- Ensure that the new licence details are correct as shown on the VPN
Client tab and that the licence status has been successfully verified. If
there it an issue with the licence file please contact
support@winfrasoft.com for
assistance before continuing.
- Click Apply to save the changes.
Step 2
- Recreate the client package by clicking the Create... button and saving
the client package to a .exe file.
Step 3
- On the remote VPN clients remove the trial version of the VPN-Q 2006
client. To uninstall VPN-Q 2006 client software on a client’s system, simply
select the VPN connection as displayed in “Show All Connections” and press
the delete key.
Step 4
- Once the trial version has been removed, install the new client setup
package which contains the Retail or Volume licence file.
